The final numbers are in and we exceeded the goal I had set of $8,000. We raised a total of $10,001 for The Road 2 Recovery Foundation. Hopefully we raised more money than any other track or pledge team in the nation. That would be cool if a Texas track spanked all the others. I will post an update on November 18th to let everyone know if it's true "Everything Is Bigger In Texas".
All of this could not have been done without your help. We have a lot of people involved in pulling this off, and I want to pass my thanks on to few people that really stepped up and help us make this happen.
The day of the event you may notice a very good locking girl by the name Kelly Kachinski. She was the one drawing the raffle ticket from the bucket. Transwrold has narrowed their search for the New Transwrold Poster Girl, and Kelly had made the top 3. Voting is being held on the Transworld website. Click HERE to vote for her. She is not only a great person but good looking as well, and will represent Texas very well.
The day of the event I was not ready for what was going to happen. I thought I could run the raffle booth and do everything else. Well about 8:30 am I figured out I was in trouble. Hanz Marscheler with Han's Tykes On Bikes (www.fastcomx.com) introduced his wife Lizabeth to me. She work her butt off. She kept up with the money being given for raffle ticks all day long. I can't say how much I appreciate her support. I will never be able to repay her for the services she provided. Lizabeth I owe you and Hanz more than you will ever know. Thank you for all you did at the event.
Terri Burt (TexasPhotoCross.com), and her husband Ace helped in so many ways I can't explain them all. I had met Terri while taking pictures at some races but never had the opportunity to met Ace until this event. I hope the friendships we created during this event will lead more events like this. Ace has a huge heart, and some great event ideas. Trust me when I say it will blow you away with what we are working on! Stay tuned, updates coming in the next few weeks.
It was great to have James Marshall at the event, and this would not of happened without the efforts of April Sutton and her mom Cherly. You both are real troopers and we owe you big time for helping James make it. Also don't forget to visit James website (Outlaw452.com) to buy some of his merchandise.
I can't thank Steve Wise enough for coming to the event. He had some great advice and words from the scripture that will resonate within me for long time.
Steve Present with Texas Ski Ranch provided the PA system, and without that we would not of had the opportunity to hear Steve Wise speak.
Ivan Vaughan with Tucker Rocky not only helped me the day of the event, but he also gave away over 60 sets of "ProTaper Pillow" Top grips. I think everyone left the event with something which was very cool.
Lastly I want thank Matt Tallon for having the track at Red Rock MX prepped to perfection. Matt spent many hours working on the track so everyone could experience what a national caliber track is like.
Joel Pouffster contacted me and he is a member of (www.RiderDown.org) . He gave me some great advice on how an event like this should be run, as he has been involved in pledge events for some time. Joel I really appreciate your advice, and I look forward to working with you and Rider Down in the future.
I want you to know that I do not deserve any of credit for what took place. You all are the ones that deserve it. I along with James, will forever be indebted to you.
